• Step#1: To purchase a VOLVO roof rack you must first select a pair of load bars for your specific vehicle. For sedans typical load bars are shown in the top picture. For VOLVO station wagons you have a choice between typical load bars (upper picture, right) or Euro roof rails with cross bars (lower picture, right). The typical load bars are less expensive than the roof rails setup. We also offer a special rack for the C70 convertible and a trailer hitch mounted rack for the XC90.

The load bars can be fitted with a wide choice of carriers for bikes, skis, snowboard, kayak, surfboard, universal platform and more. Load bars are shown here with a ski rack (not included) as an example.

• Sold in pairs, the genuine VOLVO load bars are designed to fit your VOLVO built-in mounting points
• Easy to install and remove when not needed.
• Compatible with Thule system, can be used with VOLVO or Thule carriers for bikes, skis, snowboard, kayak and more
• The rack is locked to the car when the doors are shut and locked. However someone motivated could still pry the rack with a tool. For more security an optional set of locks is available to lock the rack to the car (part number 9124983 below). On 850, S70 and V70 before 2001, kit#1394263 is also required to install the locks.
• Not for cars with euro roof rails. Look below instead.
• Not for C70 convertible, look for trunk lid rack for C70 convertible.

VOLVO 850 Wagon, V70, XC70, V40, XC90, 960 wagon, V90

Roof rails are available for VOLVO wagons models and the XC90, not for sedans. Note that less expensive simple load bars are also available for the station wagons, see listing above.

(1) Euro Roof Rails

• The rails are permanently fixed to the car, the load bars (2) can be removed when not in use.
• They are screwed from the outside into pre-fitted nuts under the roof lining molding, resulting in a shorter installation time.
• The vehicles are pre-adapted for this accessory, no special tools or drilling required.
• Maximum load is 220 lbs (100kg)
• Aerodynamically designed for minimum wind noise and air resistance.

(2) Load Bars

• For cars without Euro rails look above for more roof racks load bars.
• Sold in pairs, the genuine VOLVO load bars (2) are designed to fit your VOLVO roof rails.
• The load bars are easy to install and remove when not needed.The roof rails (1) are permanent.
• The load bars (2) can be fitted with a wide choice of carriers for bikes, skis, snowboard, kayak, surfboard, universal platform and more.
• Compatible with the Thule system, they can be used with VOLVO or Thule carriers.
• Unique mounting system helps conceal mounting hardware.
• Some models have a choice of 3 different styles: rectangular profile, oval profile and wing profile, see pictures.
• The rectangular profile is the traditional style. The oval profile is shown in the top picture. The wing profile is lower and fits flat between the rails, as shown in the lower picture.
• The oval and wing profiled load bars will required special adapters for some accessory carriers. Check the specific carrier listings in this section.
• The load capacity for all load bars is 220 lbs (100 kg)

(3) Protective Roof Moldings

• Roof ribs help protect against scratches on the roof as well as add to the appearance of the vehicle.
• The ribs consist of rubber and easily mount to the roof of the vehicle.
• There are a total of seven longitudinal ribs along the roof.

Base Unit for Hitch Mounted Accessories.

• For the XC90 only, the base unit is required when adding hitch-mounted accessories.
